Infighting Among Service Chiefs Reason Boko Haram Is Winning The Battle- Nominee Tells Senate

Infighting Among Service Chiefs Reason Boko Haram Is Winning The Battle- Nominee Tells Senate
Global News NG
Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi (retd), a ministerial nominee from Kano State has pinpointed lack of proper coordination and infighting as the major reasons Nigeria's military are loosing the anti-terrorism war.
Magashi highlighted the challenges to the Senate on Thursday while responding to questions from the Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu  adding that the relationship among the service chiefs was not cordial.
According to him: “Regarding the issue of the service chiefs, in my own view, we are caught in a situation where you find out that each commander or service chief tries to please the nation.
“Anytime the service chiefs conduct operations, you find radio coverage that the Air Force has done this, the Army has done this; thank God we are not near the ports where we can see that the Navy is also involved.
“If the Navy was around here, then the three services would have been on the same collision course. In an ideal situation where I served as an ECOMOG commander, it was a single unit that was overseeing the needs, the aspirations, welfare of our troops in combat zones.
“In Nigeria today, what we call command structure is now being seen as weakness. We have almost disseminated all our forces and I do not think the current structure is a true reflection of the manpower requirement in this country. We only have divisions probably by name but I do not think we have the required manpower to man them.”
Magashi further noted that for the nation to win the war against insurgency and curtail the growing Insecurity in the country, the Army, Air Force and the Navy should have a common troop working together and should not operate independent of one another.
He went on to suggest that a single commander should take care of reinforcement, operations, change of troops, among other needs.

SHOCKING! A 38 Year Old Man Has Been Living Without Technology For 3 Years

SHOCKING! A 38 Year Old Man Has Been Living Without Technology For 3 Years
Global News
Mark Boyle hasnt switched on a light, used a washing machine, boiled with a kettle, turned on the over or vacuumed for three years.
In 2016, he decided to live a life free of technology, so he cancelled his accounts both social media and bank accounts and moved to a log cabin where he likes to while away the dark winter evenings making love on the sheepskin rug in front of his cosy log burner.
Mark Boyle is a  38, darkly bearded, with a soft Irish lilt and is really rather handsome.
Mark wrote a book during his time away titled"The Way Home: Tales From A Life Without Technology." about his experiences wi8thout technology.
After some snail mail correspondence, Mark met Jane fryer. Since Boyle has no clocks or a watch, they met by two.
Boyle has a honours degree in Marketing and used to be a manager in an organic food firm in Bristol. He had simply just had enough.
He's 'The impact our way of life was having — industrialism wiping out life on earth, oceans filled with plastic, forests felled,' he says. 'We've lost 60 per cent of wildlife in the past 50 years. I wanted to go back to how life had been.'
Because of his decision, his girlfriend left him after going on a musical tour. She decided the log cabin life was not for her.
He says 'I've gained self-knowledge,' he says. 'I know my limits and I've a real connection to the landscape and people around me.'
His life as changes because all he has to think about is to find food, fire, and shelter instead of the things that plagued when he still with society.
His house gets light from lamps and candles and he has no toilet only uses either a tree or a compost loo nearby and washes with water boiled on the stove.
Although it takes the time he couldn't care less.Other than chopping wood, making a fire  and ensuring he has enough to eat, there is nothing else he does.
He has discovered that he would still be able to do this at the age of 75 because: "I think you become fit from this lifestyle, so I'll just keep building up the physical strength,' he says. 'I already feel less tired.'
His meals consist of  Oatmeal for breakfast and fresh spring water to drink, home-baked bread for lunch with jam, and potatoes and greens the rest of the time.
Whenever he feels he is in need of protein he'll knock back a glass of fish blood, or swallow a couple of raw eggs, but mostly it's just potatoes and greens. He hasn't visited a doctor for nearly 20 years.
Although he was very into technology while growing he can see himself not going into the city again. He met his recent girlfriend while he was teaching a class and he goes to visit her every week.
He also still communicates with his parents and they have been unfailingly supportive and they visit every week.
He can't remember the last time he went to the dentist and thinks if he had terrible toothache he'd probably whip the offending tooth out himself.
He had once tried to walk to India but his lack of french and money stopped him.
'I don't mind trying and failing,' he says. 'I'd just hate not to try.'
Mark's life seems selfless, but in others, a teeny bit selfish  stepping away from problems that the rest of us have to carry on wrestling with.
He also says he is never lonely.  Instead of choosing to live in splendid isolation, there are other houses nearby with electricity.
He walks the hour or so to a pub for a traditional music night each week, or a pint with friends. Everyone in the local community drops round to give him road-kill, old deer skins and DIY advice.
There is also a steady stream of visitors to his log cabin. Because, rather surprisingly, he has also built the Happy Pig, a cosy hostel (with power), on his land, which is free to all but not advertised anywhere.
'If you can find it, you can stay,' he says, though he insists he never pops in for a cuppa or have a hot shower, but does use the compost loo.
But he wouldn't change a thing.
'This is the worst time of year remember,' he says. 'And I'm still here!' Even better, he says, he's discovered his life's purpose.
'To be alive! To experience life in all its magic. Because life is precious, full of wonders — the stars, the extent of the universe, nature, and we're often too busy to appreciate it,' he says.
'There's all this talk of saving the world, but we need to stop and savour it, too.'

DEAR DIARY: NYSC CAMP DAY 1| Expectations Completely Shattered

DEAR DIARY: NYSC CAMP DAY 1| Expectations Completely Shattered
Scooper True Life
Dear Diary,
It is a black Friday because I am in NYSC camp. Sighs
Although I did get posted to Lagos camp but still, it is a camp! Communal living and all that comes with it. UGH
So before I went to camp, I had all these fantasies about how my first day of camp would go. I would meet a fine guy, not just meet, but a love at first sight kind of meet. Trumpets and violins playing in the background etc etc.
But then first day of camp and no Greek Adonis, no tall dark and handsome Yoruba demon or even a short one sef cos at this point, beggars can’t be choosers.
It was just poor old me carrying my box and getting fixed up in a cramped room with 32 other girls with only 2 rickety fans and two windows for ventilation. Kill me now!
And then the khaki I was given to wear, Fat, shapeless and dull. Like how would my lover find me under this tarpaulin?
Let me not even get started on my jungle boots, 5 times my size and unbelievably heavy to walk in. I started the arduous journey of getting someone to exchange it with and my nails broke!! A crucial part of my baby girl starter pack broke alongside my dreams of a camp lover. Wails
I am so exhausted. In retrospect, I should have forged a medical report of a fake liver disease to get out of this wretched place. Too extreme? Yeah I thought so too.
It’s not all doom anyway, I hear OBS is a good place to ‘work’ so you don’t have to march.
I might join OBS tomorrow! And maybe meet him there, he would definitely be my soulmate if I do.
Oh My! Tomorrow looks better already.

Maguire Set To Undergo Manchester United Medical Today

Maguire Set To Undergo Manchester United Medical Today
Hi Sports
Manchester United have reportedly agreed on a deal of around £80m with Leicester City for Harry Maguire.
The Leicester defender informed the club in the past few days that he was unhappy that they could potentially price him out of a move.
That has resulted in instant action from the Foxes who now look to have granted his wishes of an exit.
The Sun claims that an agreement between the two clubs has now been reached. Manchester United have agreed to pay £60million up front with £20m in add-ons.
He is expected to arrive in Manchester today for a medical today.
Leicester was holding out for £90m after United’s opening offer of £70m was rejected early last week.
But after realizing they were fighting a losing battle to keep hold of the England international, they are now prepared to start planning for life without him.
Lewis Dunk and James Tarkowski have both been eyed as potential replacements.
Maguire had initially favored a move to Manchester City due to the pull of Champions League football and working with Pep Guardiola.
However, last season’s Premier League champions appeared to cool their interest after United tabled their first offer.
Ed Woodward will be delighted that Leicester has finally decided to cave in after playing hardball during negotiations.
The United chief was not prepared to reach their £90m valuation and therefore reliant that they reduced their asking price.
Jose Mourinho first made an approach to sign Maguire on the back of last year’s World Cup, where the 26-year-old was an England hero.
Woodward was not prepared to pay up for the center-back amid fears his price had been inflated on the basis of one good international tournament.
Issa Diop, Kalidou Koulibaly and Toby Alderweireld have all been linked with moves to Old Trafford, while 12 months ago it was Diego Godin, Milan Skriniar and Jerome Boateng.
Maguire is currently with Leicester in Evian, beginning preparations under Brendan Rodgers for the start of the new Premier League season.
Meanwhile United are 13,912 kilometers away in Perth where they will play against Leeds United on Wednesday.

WICKED! 14-Year-Old Boy Brutalized By Uncle For Stealing 3000 Naira

WICKED! 14-Year-Old Boy Brutalized By Uncle For Stealing 3000 Naira
Scooper Radar
14-year-old Abdul Isa got more than he bargained for when he stole 3000 Naira from a neighbor.
These photos below show how the boy, resident in the Gangare metropolis of Jos North LGA of Plateau State was brutally beaten by his uncle for the crime.
According to Amama Benedict who shared the story on Instagram, 'the said money was retrieved from him and given back to the owner'.
"In my(@jossybliss) chat with him on his hospital bed where he's receiving treatment, he narrated the incident to me in hausa language.
As a result of his condition, he was not accepted at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital, he was taken to a private hospital where he's being treated.
He has stitches on his face, and swellings as a result of the assault on him.
My question is, why treat this young lad like a hardcore criminal when you're meant to be a father to him, seeing he lost his father at a tender age and also without a mother?
What do you expect of a young boy as Abdul who has not been to school all his life but the street as his favorite spot? I want to call on all relevant authorities to ensure Abdul Isa gets justice for this inhuman act perpetrated on him.
Graphic Photo: 14-year old boy brutally beaten by his uncle for stealing?? 3,000 from a neighbor
The perpetrator is in custody of the Nigeria Police Force C Division in Jos North LGA of Plateau State. I really commend the effort of the inspector who insists on the boy's healthy recovery and justice for him too.
And to the Doctors and Nurses who are up and about to see Abdul regain himself fully, I say kudos to you all. I feel the pain of this young lad, who was all teary as I conversed with him.
I don't think he deserved this ill-treatment meted on him by his uncle, let this serve as deterrence to everyone manhandling children in this manner. If you can't love them and treat them right, or correct them as ought to, please leave them alone... Do unto them as you would want others to do yo you!"
