Infighting Among Service Chiefs Reason Boko Haram Is Winning The Battle- Nominee Tells Senate

Infighting Among Service Chiefs Reason Boko Haram Is Winning The Battle- Nominee Tells Senate
Global News NG
Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi (retd), a ministerial nominee from Kano State has pinpointed lack of proper coordination and infighting as the major reasons Nigeria's military are loosing the anti-terrorism war.
Magashi highlighted the challenges to the Senate on Thursday while responding to questions from the Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu  adding that the relationship among the service chiefs was not cordial.
According to him: “Regarding the issue of the service chiefs, in my own view, we are caught in a situation where you find out that each commander or service chief tries to please the nation.
“Anytime the service chiefs conduct operations, you find radio coverage that the Air Force has done this, the Army has done this; thank God we are not near the ports where we can see that the Navy is also involved.
“If the Navy was around here, then the three services would have been on the same collision course. In an ideal situation where I served as an ECOMOG commander, it was a single unit that was overseeing the needs, the aspirations, welfare of our troops in combat zones.
“In Nigeria today, what we call command structure is now being seen as weakness. We have almost disseminated all our forces and I do not think the current structure is a true reflection of the manpower requirement in this country. We only have divisions probably by name but I do not think we have the required manpower to man them.”
Magashi further noted that for the nation to win the war against insurgency and curtail the growing Insecurity in the country, the Army, Air Force and the Navy should have a common troop working together and should not operate independent of one another.
He went on to suggest that a single commander should take care of reinforcement, operations, change of troops, among other needs.

SHOCKING! A 38 Year Old Man Has Been Living Without Technology For 3 Years

SHOCKING! A 38 Year Old Man Has Been Living Without Technology For 3 Years
Global News
Mark Boyle hasnt switched on a light, used a washing machine, boiled with a kettle, turned on the over or vacuumed for three years.
In 2016, he decided to live a life free of technology, so he cancelled his accounts both social media and bank accounts and moved to a log cabin where he likes to while away the dark winter evenings making love on the sheepskin rug in front of his cosy log burner.
Mark Boyle is a  38, darkly bearded, with a soft Irish lilt and is really rather handsome.
Mark wrote a book during his time away titled"The Way Home: Tales From A Life Without Technology." about his experiences wi8thout technology.
After some snail mail correspondence, Mark met Jane fryer. Since Boyle has no clocks or a watch, they met by two.
Boyle has a honours degree in Marketing and used to be a manager in an organic food firm in Bristol. He had simply just had enough.
He's 'The impact our way of life was having — industrialism wiping out life on earth, oceans filled with plastic, forests felled,' he says. 'We've lost 60 per cent of wildlife in the past 50 years. I wanted to go back to how life had been.'
Because of his decision, his girlfriend left him after going on a musical tour. She decided the log cabin life was not for her.
He says 'I've gained self-knowledge,' he says. 'I know my limits and I've a real connection to the landscape and people around me.'
His life as changes because all he has to think about is to find food, fire, and shelter instead of the things that plagued when he still with society.
His house gets light from lamps and candles and he has no toilet only uses either a tree or a compost loo nearby and washes with water boiled on the stove.
Although it takes the time he couldn't care less.Other than chopping wood, making a fire  and ensuring he has enough to eat, there is nothing else he does.
He has discovered that he would still be able to do this at the age of 75 because: "I think you become fit from this lifestyle, so I'll just keep building up the physical strength,' he says. 'I already feel less tired.'
His meals consist of  Oatmeal for breakfast and fresh spring water to drink, home-baked bread for lunch with jam, and potatoes and greens the rest of the time.
Whenever he feels he is in need of protein he'll knock back a glass of fish blood, or swallow a couple of raw eggs, but mostly it's just potatoes and greens. He hasn't visited a doctor for nearly 20 years.
Although he was very into technology while growing he can see himself not going into the city again. He met his recent girlfriend while he was teaching a class and he goes to visit her every week.
He also still communicates with his parents and they have been unfailingly supportive and they visit every week.
He can't remember the last time he went to the dentist and thinks if he had terrible toothache he'd probably whip the offending tooth out himself.
He had once tried to walk to India but his lack of french and money stopped him.
'I don't mind trying and failing,' he says. 'I'd just hate not to try.'
Mark's life seems selfless, but in others, a teeny bit selfish  stepping away from problems that the rest of us have to carry on wrestling with.
He also says he is never lonely.  Instead of choosing to live in splendid isolation, there are other houses nearby with electricity.
He walks the hour or so to a pub for a traditional music night each week, or a pint with friends. Everyone in the local community drops round to give him road-kill, old deer skins and DIY advice.
There is also a steady stream of visitors to his log cabin. Because, rather surprisingly, he has also built the Happy Pig, a cosy hostel (with power), on his land, which is free to all but not advertised anywhere.
'If you can find it, you can stay,' he says, though he insists he never pops in for a cuppa or have a hot shower, but does use the compost loo.
But he wouldn't change a thing.
'This is the worst time of year remember,' he says. 'And I'm still here!' Even better, he says, he's discovered his life's purpose.
'To be alive! To experience life in all its magic. Because life is precious, full of wonders — the stars, the extent of the universe, nature, and we're often too busy to appreciate it,' he says.
'There's all this talk of saving the world, but we need to stop and savour it, too.'

DEAR DIARY: NYSC CAMP DAY 1| Expectations Completely Shattered

DEAR DIARY: NYSC CAMP DAY 1| Expectations Completely Shattered
Scooper True Life
Dear Diary,
It is a black Friday because I am in NYSC camp. Sighs
Although I did get posted to Lagos camp but still, it is a camp! Communal living and all that comes with it. UGH
So before I went to camp, I had all these fantasies about how my first day of camp would go. I would meet a fine guy, not just meet, but a love at first sight kind of meet. Trumpets and violins playing in the background etc etc.
But then first day of camp and no Greek Adonis, no tall dark and handsome Yoruba demon or even a short one sef cos at this point, beggars can’t be choosers.
It was just poor old me carrying my box and getting fixed up in a cramped room with 32 other girls with only 2 rickety fans and two windows for ventilation. Kill me now!
And then the khaki I was given to wear, Fat, shapeless and dull. Like how would my lover find me under this tarpaulin?
Let me not even get started on my jungle boots, 5 times my size and unbelievably heavy to walk in. I started the arduous journey of getting someone to exchange it with and my nails broke!! A crucial part of my baby girl starter pack broke alongside my dreams of a camp lover. Wails
I am so exhausted. In retrospect, I should have forged a medical report of a fake liver disease to get out of this wretched place. Too extreme? Yeah I thought so too.
It’s not all doom anyway, I hear OBS is a good place to ‘work’ so you don’t have to march.
I might join OBS tomorrow! And maybe meet him there, he would definitely be my soulmate if I do.
Oh My! Tomorrow looks better already.

Maguire Set To Undergo Manchester United Medical Today

Maguire Set To Undergo Manchester United Medical Today
Hi Sports
Manchester United have reportedly agreed on a deal of around £80m with Leicester City for Harry Maguire.
The Leicester defender informed the club in the past few days that he was unhappy that they could potentially price him out of a move.
That has resulted in instant action from the Foxes who now look to have granted his wishes of an exit.
The Sun claims that an agreement between the two clubs has now been reached. Manchester United have agreed to pay £60million up front with £20m in add-ons.
He is expected to arrive in Manchester today for a medical today.
Leicester was holding out for £90m after United’s opening offer of £70m was rejected early last week.
But after realizing they were fighting a losing battle to keep hold of the England international, they are now prepared to start planning for life without him.
Lewis Dunk and James Tarkowski have both been eyed as potential replacements.
Maguire had initially favored a move to Manchester City due to the pull of Champions League football and working with Pep Guardiola.
However, last season’s Premier League champions appeared to cool their interest after United tabled their first offer.
Ed Woodward will be delighted that Leicester has finally decided to cave in after playing hardball during negotiations.
The United chief was not prepared to reach their £90m valuation and therefore reliant that they reduced their asking price.
Jose Mourinho first made an approach to sign Maguire on the back of last year’s World Cup, where the 26-year-old was an England hero.
Woodward was not prepared to pay up for the center-back amid fears his price had been inflated on the basis of one good international tournament.
Issa Diop, Kalidou Koulibaly and Toby Alderweireld have all been linked with moves to Old Trafford, while 12 months ago it was Diego Godin, Milan Skriniar and Jerome Boateng.
Maguire is currently with Leicester in Evian, beginning preparations under Brendan Rodgers for the start of the new Premier League season.
Meanwhile United are 13,912 kilometers away in Perth where they will play against Leeds United on Wednesday.

WICKED! 14-Year-Old Boy Brutalized By Uncle For Stealing 3000 Naira
Scooper Radar
14-year-old Abdul Isa got more than he bargained for when he stole 3000 Naira from a neighbor.
These photos below show how the boy, resident in the Gangare metropolis of Jos North LGA of Plateau State was brutally beaten by his uncle for the crime.
According to Amama Benedict who shared the story on Instagram, 'the said money was retrieved from him and given back to the owner'.
"In my(@jossybliss) chat with him on his hospital bed where he's receiving treatment, he narrated the incident to me in hausa language.
As a result of his condition, he was not accepted at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital, he was taken to a private hospital where he's being treated.
He has stitches on his face, and swellings as a result of the assault on him.
My question is, why treat this young lad like a hardcore criminal when you're meant to be a father to him, seeing he lost his father at a tender age and also without a mother?
What do you expect of a young boy as Abdul who has not been to school all his life but the street as his favorite spot? I want to call on all relevant authorities to ensure Abdul Isa gets justice for this inhuman act perpetrated on him.
Graphic Photo: 14-year old boy brutally beaten by his uncle for stealing?? 3,000 from a neighbor
The perpetrator is in custody of the Nigeria Police Force C Division in Jos North LGA of Plateau State. I really commend the effort of the inspector who insists on the boy's healthy recovery and justice for him too.
And to the Doctors and Nurses who are up and about to see Abdul regain himself fully, I say kudos to you all. I feel the pain of this young lad, who was all teary as I conversed with him.
I don't think he deserved this ill-treatment meted on him by his uncle, let this serve as deterrence to everyone manhandling children in this manner. If you can't love them and treat them right, or correct them as ought to, please leave them alone... Do unto them as you would want others to do yo you!"

How To Make Your Laptop Battery Last Longer

How To Make Your Laptop Battery Last Longer
Technology Eye | July 14, 2019
We have been witnessing a lot of controversial drama these past few weeks about the topic of Ugandan government giving our Murchison falls to private investors to help boost the supply of electricity within the region. It’s a long debate that we won’t be able to see the conclusion any day soon, however, power distribution company, UMEME has been consistent with their load shedding exercise and onetime you might be caught between saving your laptop battery and finishing your assignment or office task.
These are the things you can do to save your laptop’s battery so that you can use the handy computers for a longer time.
Turn down your brightness
Brightness in our laptops is hugely dependent upon the environment we are in since in dark places we tend to increase to be able to view the content properly and otherwise.
What most people are ignorant about is that bright display is a huge drain on our laptop’s battery life, so the less power you can make it use, the better.
Quit out of programs you are not using
This exercise cuts across most of our devices we use daily, from our smartphones to mobile tablets. If you’re not using a certain application or program, quit or end tasks to reduce the number of instances your device has to perform.
Turn off Wifi and Bluetooth
Toggling off the WiFi and Bluetooth button will help you save battery power that the laptop would have been using to search for new networks or devices at a time. A quick hack is to actually turn on the airplane mode to quickly disable those options and save you the trouble of switching off WIFi and Bluetooth separately.
Unplug your accessories
Keeping your external HDD connected to your laptop will transfer power from your laptop to the device, draining your battery quicker. The same goes for any other thing you might plug in like a mouse, external keyboards, etc.
Turn off your keyboard backlight
Not all of us who own laptops have the luxury of owning one which has a backlight on the keyboard however for those who have the privilege, turning this feature off will save you some power. On most laptops, this feature automatically switches according to the environment your laptop is in, it will turn on when you’re in a dark place to illuminate the keyboard and goes off in bright places.
Mute your speakers or use headphones
Most of us use headphones only when we’re in an office setting or class to not inconvenience other people with music coming from our laptops. This practice to a small point help us save some power on our laptop batteries when you hear audio from a laptop, that audio needs power in order to become audible (and the louder it is, the more power it needs). So, it’s best practice to mute your speakers or use headphones when you want to hear some audio on your PC.
Hopefully, these tricks will buy you enough time to finish up whatever you have to do on your laptop.

Police arrest suspected human trafficker in Imo
Pumetro | July 10, 2019
Gibson Achonu and Chidiebube Okeoma, Owerri
The Nigeria Police said it had arrested an alleged notorious human trafficker, who was said to be operating from the Mbaise area of Imo State.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, who was in the state for a visit, paraded the suspect identified as Ndubueze Iroakonaulo, 57, alongside other suspected criminals in Owerri.
Speaking with journalists, Mba said the suspect would be charged to court after investigation.
Mba, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, said Iroakonaulo was arrested on July 4, 2019, following a tip-off.
According to him, the arrest of the suspect was part of the success of the Operation Puff Adder, which was launched nationwide in April by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
Mba said, “On July 4, following a tip-off, personnel of the command arrested Ndubueze Iroakonaulo and rescued four pregnant women at various stages of pregnancy and two children.
“The suspect, who is a specialist in keeping pregnant women, sees them through child birth and subsequently sells the babies, has made useful statements to the police, confessing to the crime and his mode of operation.”
In another development, the police say they had arrested five kidnap suspects and rescued seven victims from their den in the state.
Those arrested were identified as Peter Onuoha, 43; Justice Eke, 23; Praise Goodluck, 29, from Obubo Awarra; Goodluck Felix, 38, from Ohaji/Egbema in Imo State; and Stephen Amadi from Omademe in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The rescued victims were identified simply as Nnaka, Chukwuma, Nwangwu, Ephraim, Emmanuel and David.
Briefing journalists, Mba stated that some personnel of the command arrested the kidnap suspects following a tip-off.
He said, “Following a tip-off received on July 4, 2019, that a gang of kidnappers were holding some victims hostage in a forest in Ohaji, personnel of the command swiftly swung into action and stormed the kidnappers’ hideout.
“On sighting the command’s personnel, the suspects engaged them in a heated gun duel during which three of them fell to the superior firepower of the policemen and two others escaped with serious gunshot injuries.”
The Force PRO, added that the victims, including a pregnant woman, were rescued unhurt in spite of being in the kidnappers’ hideout when the gun duel ensued.
He stated, “The rescued victims were subsequently taken to the police hospital for treatment and the doctor on duty certified them okay and the pregnancy of the women was still intact.
“Exhibit recovered from the suspects, who confessed to the crime, are two single-barrelled long guns, one double-barrelled guns, two live cartridges, 27 expended cartridges, one machete, one iron saw, one police beret, two sets of police uniform, a pair of police boots, police belt and police handcuff.”
Fielding questions from our correspondent, one of the rescued victims, Nwangwu, said that she and others were in a Sienna bus travelling from Bayelsa to Enugu State when they were stopped around 4pm by a group of young men, dressed in police uniform.
“They pointed guns at us and ordered us out into their own bus. We all moved into their bus and they drove off and where we found ourselves was in their den.
“They kept us there for two days without food. We were only given water. One of us was negotiating for ransom when the miracle happened.
“It did not take quite long after the phone call that policemen stormed the hideout and rescued us. We heard the gunshots, but none of the bullets touched any of us.”

This new $12 billion airport will be the biggest in the world — take a look inside
Urgo
On April 6, Istanbul Ataturk Airport — which was considered one of the busiest airports in the world with 70 million annual passengers — officially ceased operations. All commercial flights were transferred to Turkey’s new flagship international airport, which means Istanbul New Airport is open for business.
The first flight at Istanbul New Airport took place October 2018, and now the airport’s first phase of construction, which includes three runways and 15 million square feet of terminal space, is finished. There are four phases to be completed by 2025, with a total cost of about $12 billion.
The new airport covers 76 million square meters (more than 818 million square feet or 18,780 acres) and can currently handle 90 million passengers a year in phase one. When the entire airport is completed, it will be able to handle 200 million passengers a year. That will make it the world’s biggest airport by passenger traffic. In comparison, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, currently the world’s busiest airport, handles 107 million passengers a year.
There will be 55,000 square meters (592,000 square feet) of Duty Free shops. The Duty Free area, inspired by the Bosphorus, a famous waterway in Turkey, will have seven sections housing different concepts, including “Fashion Garden,” “Family Palace” and “Style Beach,” each selling brands related to its theme.
The airport also has a Yotel, a 451-room boutique hotel that has both “land-side” and “air-side” access. Those booking air-side (located near Duty Free) don’t have to leave the airport after they deplane. Land-side bookings are for passengers who have not yet gone through customs and passport control.
The air traffic control tower at Istanbul New Airport, which is 22 miles from Istanbul, is shaped like a tulip, a popular and symbolic flower in Turkish culture.
The massive growth of Turkish Airlines is one of the major reasons for Istanbul New Airport.
Beijing Daxing International Airport, scheduled to open in September, also cost $12 billion. It is being built to take some of the load off Beijing Capital International Airport, currently the second busiest airport int he world with 95 million passengers. Beijing Capital will not close.

FG may redesign 2nd Niger bridge to prevent suicide attempts - Official
Naij News
- Adeyemo Ajani, the federal controller of works in Anambra state, has said second Niger bridge may be redesigned
- The government official said the redesign is so that cases of suicide attempts can be prevented
- Ajani also added that work on the project has progressed satisfactorily
The federal controller of works in Anambra state, Adeyemo Ajani, on Sunday, July 14, said the second Niger bridge may be redesigned to prevent suicide attempts.
The federal works official made this known when the Abuja branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) inspected the progress on the works at the Ogbaru site of the bridge project, Vanguard reports.
Ajani also spoke about how the work has been progressing on the site, give full details on the construction of the bridge.
He said: “What we have on the walk lane is our standard design but what the engineers are talking about is a kind of review.
“If we have to do abnormal design to take care of suicidal situations, it will require another design.
“There has been rapid progress on the project. The last time the minister and the vice-president came, it was 15 per cent level completion but today it is above 21 per cent.
“When you look at it from the time the project started, we are now at 24 per cent completion.”
During an earlier inspection, the NSE Abuja chairman, Chinasaokwu Okoli made a few recommendation on the design to prevent cases of suicide.
He said: “The project is fully crafted and the work is being handled and supervised well. Our concerns are positive. All the places that could raise concerns have been properly tidied up.
“The only area we have concern is the pedestrian walkway. With what we are hearing about people jumping over the bridge and committing suicide, we feel it could be raised up a bit to make it a little difficult for those who may think of committing suicide here.”

Beating PSG 6-1 My Best Footballing Memory' - Neymar MOCKS PSG

'Beating PSG 6-1 My Best Footballing Memory' - Neymar MOCKS PSG
Hi Sports
The Brazilian ace has raised more dust  as regards transfer talk linking him with a Barca return by digging the humiliation of his current team as a personal fave
Neymar has ensured an interesting reception when he belatedly returns to France next week by claiming that one of his favourite memories in football was beating Paris Saint-Germain 6-1 with Barcelona.
The Brazilian, constantly linked with a return to Spain this summer, has already irked PSG officials by missing the start of pre-season training to attend a charity event with Instituto Neymar, the foundation he set up in 2013.
Speaking at the event, Neymar was asked for his best memory from his football career to date. He had two: winning Olympic gold with Brazil in 2016, and humiliating his current club with the infamous 6-1 comeback in 2017.
“When we won against PSG with Barcelona it was completely… we all went crazy afterwards,” Neymar said.
“I believe it was the best feeling for all of us.
“The ‘Remontada’ against Paris, what we felt when we scored the sixth goal… I have never felt anything like this. It was incredible!”
Neymar scored twice in that game, a stunning free kick in the 88th minute and a penalty in the 91st to bring Barca to within touching distance of one of the most memorable comebacks of all time.
Sergi Roberto’s 95th-minute winner completed the turnaround after a scarcely believable 4-0 defeat in Paris had seemed set to dump Barca out of the Champions League.
Given PSG’s much-talked-about failure to make an impression in Europe despite spending huge sums on the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, it isn’t hard to imagine Neymar’s comments – while understandable – will annoy team-mates, officials and fans alike at his current side.
With Barcelona having confirmed the signing of Antoine Griezmann, fans are desperate to see a return for Neymar to create a front three that would rival the famous ‘MSN’ lineup that the Brazilian was a part of.
He certainly seems to be angling for the move, but whether the La Liga champions would be able to sign both players in one window remains to be seen.
On Saturday, he posted a video to his Instagram story showing a picture of himself in a Barcelona shirt and a Bible verse – though his intention behind the upload was far from clear.

Lies Women Need To Stop Believing About The Penis

Lies Women Need To Stop Believing About The Penis
Yarns Mag
The male reproductive organ aka the penis may not be quite as fascinating and a source of many questions as its female counterpart, but that is not to say there aren’t questions regarding it, too.
Some of these many frequently asked questions about the penis have resulted in myths, unfounded claims, confusion and certain beliefs that are untrue.

To clear any doubts on these issues, we list 5 common lies and myths about the penis:
1. Shoe size does not determine penis size
You that popular one people like to say about shoe size and penis size? Well it is not true.
According to a study published in the journal BJU International, there is no correlation between shoe size and penis length even though an older study which was published in 1993 had said so.
Researchers and publishers of the new study say that it would be a stretch to say that both were strongly linked.
2. Does the index finger determine penis size?
While shoe size may not be directly proportional to the size of the penis, there seems to be a link between it and the index finger.
According to an Iranian study published by the International Journal of Impotence Research,  "penile dimensions are significantly correlated with age, height, and index finger length," but not foot size.

3. Masturbation causes blindness
This seems to be another one of the lies propagated about the penis. It is a common belief that masturbation may cause you to go blind, especially if overdone. But that is not true. It seems to be nothing more than a ploy of moralists and religious folk to stop people from the ‘sin’ of masturbation.
FYI: masturbation is medically certified OK, even recommended sometimes.
4. Does the penis have a mind of its own?
Yes, it does, as exemplified by early morning erection and the NARB concept. NARB means ‘no apparent reason boner’, an allusion to the penis’ decision to sometimes go erect of its own accord.
Dr. Vincent Karuhanga of Friends Poly Clinic, Uganda, said in 2008 that because the penis answers to a part of the nervous system which is not always under your conscience, it is hard for you to control it.

5. Do you get erect only for those you are attracted to?
This is not true Therefore the answer to the question above has to be a no.
Although it seems as if many people believe that if you have trouble getting an erection, it's because you're not attracted to your partner, it’s not true.
Many things cause erection problems. Although lack of sexual attraction to your partner MIGHT be one of them, it's more likely to be something else such as a medical condition, stress, tiredness and an unhealthy diet and lifestyle.
