While its no secret that women are more used to verbal praises, men like them too, they just don’t express it.

It's in a man's nature to class respect as love, they're wired to believe that you don’t truly care about them if you don’t approve of his choices or beliefs.
The moment they sense your disapproval as a lack of respect, then there's a sudden need to distance themselves from you.

Men know that women are natural nurturers, so they must be some level of trust for him to be able to break down in front of you, and if you're not able to handle that, then he sees no need to be with you or rely on you.

Men are taught from a tender age not to show emotions else they appear weak, this in itself is the reason they hide their emotions so well and try to put on a brave front always.
4. Space
Men don’t like to be suffocated, they like their space. They feel happier when you respect their space, let him breathe, let him roam. Knowing that you trust both him and the strength of your bond is enough.
