How To Make Your Laptop Battery Last Longer
Technology Eye | July 14, 2019
We have been witnessing a lot of controversial drama these past few weeks about the topic of Ugandan government giving our Murchison falls to private investors to help boost the supply of electricity within the region. It’s a long debate that we won’t be able to see the conclusion any day soon, however, power distribution company, UMEME has been consistent with their load shedding exercise and onetime you might be caught between saving your laptop battery and finishing your assignment or office task.

These are the things you can do to save your laptop’s battery so that you can use the handy computers for a longer time.
Turn down your brightness
Brightness in our laptops is hugely dependent upon the environment we are in since in dark places we tend to increase to be able to view the content properly and otherwise.
What most people are ignorant about is that bright display is a huge drain on our laptop’s battery life, so the less power you can make it use, the better.
Quit out of programs you are not using
This exercise cuts across most of our devices we use daily, from our smartphones to mobile tablets. If you’re not using a certain application or program, quit or end tasks to reduce the number of instances your device has to perform.
Turn off Wifi and Bluetooth
Toggling off the WiFi and Bluetooth button will help you save battery power that the laptop would have been using to search for new networks or devices at a time. A quick hack is to actually turn on the airplane mode to quickly disable those options and save you the trouble of switching off WIFi and Bluetooth separately.
Unplug your accessories
Keeping your external HDD connected to your laptop will transfer power from your laptop to the device, draining your battery quicker. The same goes for any other thing you might plug in like a mouse, external keyboards, etc.
Turn off your keyboard backlight
Not all of us who own laptops have the luxury of owning one which has a backlight on the keyboard however for those who have the privilege, turning this feature off will save you some power. On most laptops, this feature automatically switches according to the environment your laptop is in, it will turn on when you’re in a dark place to illuminate the keyboard and goes off in bright places.
Mute your speakers or use headphones
Most of us use headphones only when we’re in an office setting or class to not inconvenience other people with music coming from our laptops. This practice to a small point help us save some power on our laptop batteries when you hear audio from a laptop, that audio needs power in order to become audible (and the louder it is, the more power it needs). So, it’s best practice to mute your speakers or use headphones when you want to hear some audio on your PC.
Hopefully, these tricks will buy you enough time to finish up whatever you have to do on your laptop.
